The Boss.
Most of the trees in the various locations were wiped out. However - since Irma many of the beach locations have planted new trees. So hard to answer your question - very possible that when you get there new palm trees have been planted.
Life's short - sail more!

As to captain and boss. And a solution to non existent shade trees.
The way things have evolved here, I am the Captain, Erica is the Admiral . However, she is an excellent and knowledgeable sailor, hence the Admiral rank.
for the O.P's BOSS, if her heart loves sitting out on the beach, in the shade. When you land in the BVI, you might find a beach umbrella to purchase, or possibly rent. Also , check with your charter company, they may be able too help out, with less hassel.
They may have a shade umbrella sitting with their rental , air scoops, kayaks, flotation toys . And that puppy will come in handy for the entire BVI cruise on several islands .
Cheer the Boss up .
A happy wife, is a happy life.
