Just returned last night and all I can say is we found paradise. My only regret is we didn't discover SXM sooner.
Stayed at the Alamanda. Loved the location. Great hotel because everything is nice and brand spanking new. Wish they had a small gift shop so I didn't have to keep running over to the Tap Five market for stuff like sunblock and water. Wish they had an ATM. Other than that it was perfect for us.
Ate at L'Escapade (pricey, great lobster, sloooow service)
Bar de la Mer (the best grilled shrimp I've ever had)
Rainbow (my friend's wedding reception was there on Saturday). It was very good.
Cote Plages (the best place for our three year old to run and play while we enjoyed a terrific dinner)
Sebastiano's (didn't like the pasta we ordered at all)
I got sick while I was there- no big deal- just tonsillitis but needed to see a dr. for antibiotics. Had my exam and perscription filled IN ONE HOUR!! In the states going to Urgent Care on a Sunday and waiting for the pharmacy to fill the prescription would have taken all day.
Felt safe all the time- but oddly enough someone stole my daughter's sippy cup out of the car.
Ate lunch almost every day at Kon Tiki- terrific pizza, pan begnet, salads.
Discovered Sexy Fruits- LOVED LOVED LOVED the silver jewelry and funky kids clothes.
Had no problem with my $100 for six days deal with Budget rent a car.
I am so bummed out to be home. My husband is French and we actually went grocery shopping BEFORE we left SXM and brought home some favorite cheeses, mustard, creme fraiche, wines, etc.

We have decided to retire there. Only 25 more years to go....
Sue
