We finally came back to our paradise after missing a year. At the end of February, we got on Jet Blue, landed on time and went right to Best Deal for our car. We were quite anxious as we pulled into the parking lot of the newly rebuilt Horny Toad. Just have to say that Deb and Doug did a wonderful job. It kept the looks and charm of the original Toad, new and updated now. The beaches still look great. Cupecoy is back with sand - at least it was last week. Mullet, Bay Plum and Simpson Bay all in good shape. Still have many more beaches to check out. As far as restaurants go, The Palm, Moulin Fou, Bavaria, Dingy Dock and whatever else that I forgot, all had great food. The island seems to be coming back, looking green and healthy. The worst sight was looking at the space that Lee’s once occupied. That’s a story for another time. We have a lot more to go and see. Can’t wait for our next adventure.

Thanks for the report. Going to check out the Toad in a few days and have a November stay booked. One of my favorite places on the island.

Enjoy your stay! How much longer do you have on island? And tell them they need to put pictures of the rooms on the Horny Toad website!!

We’re down here for 3 weeks with 2 weeks to go. Yes, they never did post any pictures of the interior. I’ll have to mention that to Deb and Doug. The rooms are laid out nicely and everything you can think of brand new. We are very pleased.

How do the new units compare to the old? It sounds like they are closer in size now but the end units are still a little larger from what Deb described. We have not stayed there in a few years but I do stop by every year for a visit. I am dropping off our deposit sometime next week. Good to hear you like it.

Mike--I know the old units were all very different from each other, so perhaps that was why there were not pictures before, but now I guess they are pretty much the same? Do mention it to them. I have to think it will be helpful to them, and to their customers.

To answer both your questions, the old rooms, facing them were more horizontal. Kitchen to the left(or right) bed and dressers to the right. The rooms are now vertical. Entering the door and you go into the bedroom and bathroom, a little more forward and you’re in the kitchen with a view of the beach and water. How great is that! Very nicely laid out. If you plan on staying here, you won’t be disappointed. It’s been 16 years that we’ve been “Toadies” and still love it.

Do they have King beds now? Is the little pool still there?

I'm thinking now that maybe she has it confused with that one other place on the beach, whose name escapes me at the moment. Azure??

The new Horny Toad has nice king size beds just like the old Toad but a lot more comfortable. If any of you remember the old king size beds had a divider down the middle and was a little annoying. The Toad also never had a pool. The original owner Betty, Deb’s mom, used to tell her guests that the sea was their pool. I doubt the Toad will ever see one. Some of you are maybe thinking of Mary’s Boon. They have (or had) a small pool in the back.

That's the one "quarrel" I have with the Toad. Despite the ocean being right there, I would really like a pool. Oh, well.
