My wife and I were not really impressed with Sol e Luna but mainly from a food point of view. 24 Euros may be a good price but the fixed selection was limited, small portions and not very tasty and if you have someone with certain dietary needs, whereas we found most other places were accommodating, this would not be the place. having said that, they have made the place as attractive as possible inside and outside and have done a good job, but if you are a foodie and hungry, look elsewhere. jmo.

I may try it out myself this time, but I did think that the selections did seem kind of limited and the portions small, although normally three courses for lunch would be a decent amount of food, for lunch anyway. Now, that is very disappointing that you did not think the food was very tasty.

As mentioned, Just my opinion but I am a bit of a foodie. Everyone should always try a place once to see. Could also have been a bad day, who knows? Let us know your thoughts when there.

Not sure if we will get there or not, but will definitely post here if we do.

Carol, all four of us had something different and all enjoyed. One in our party is a cook and restaurant owner. Different strokes..

My guess would be it was a bad day. As a retired chef I consider myself a foodie too and I stick with it was the best. As to portion size, no smaller than most French restaurants. We have rsvp for Frenchie Ludo next Saturday and I will let you know about portion size.

As a retired Chef(meet retired food critic) your opinion on Tropicana please and where in your opinion it can be bettered. Very difficult subject this one and like politics can be explosive due to us all having different likes and tastes.

Talking of French restaurants, just came across this. The Daily Herald rated them 1st for 2018 ahead of some other notables. L'Escargot. Anyone been? https://www.lescargotrestaurant.com/

OK, the DH rankings mean NOTHING. Those are rankings by DH readers, and the votes could be by friends and family members, etc. Often the DH rankings leave one totally scratching their head.

OK, I wasn't sure if you were familiar with how those rankings come about. I've never been to L'Escargot myself.

We went once probably thirty years ago. I thought it very good and very expensive at the time but as I’ve said so many times, we’re not foodies in the true sense of the term and it was at least thirty years ago. Things change....... When we were younger we used to go into P’berg a lot for dinner a lot but in the last 10 to 15 years not so much, and when we do we usually have Antoine’s on our radar along with their lobster Thermidor and their dessert souffles. We’ve only been back to Antoine’s once for dinner since they changed hands and it has never occurred to us to try Escargot again. Would love to hear recent reviews myself.......
Respectfully,
pat

Sol Y Luna is a beautiful restaurant and we had dinner there in January. The service was impecable and the quality of the food fine. The portions were adequate and the desert was delicious. We will be going back there next week with some more friends. I'm sorry Bran wasn't impressed but maybe it was an off night. Try it again.
