I keep spotting images on Instagram which show a huge number of boats at Marina Cay. One posted just now has around 50 boats moored/anchored.

BVI Mariner page gives 30 mooring balls there.

Have more balls been added? Or are lots of people anchoring?

Either way...wondering why it's so busy all of a sudden. Is this just a knock on effect of the lack of balls / lack of BEYC and SR in North Sound? Or perhaps The Yacht Week is there tonight?

We've never had an issue getting a ball at MC in the past...

Does anyone know if Marina Cay is serving dinner these days? I have heard just lunch but we may change our plans if dinner is an option.

Christo...

The restaurant under the tent is open until 7 pm....

Then they say....LATER IF NEEDED.

Probably a good plan to get there a little early,

Marina Cay, will be a bit different, but we are looking forward to picking up a mooring and enjoying what ever is available

Enjoy

I have not heard of the 7 pm closing. We were there recently and sat down for dinner at 7. There were other tables still occupied when we left around 9
.

Same. we just called and booked a table for 7:00 tonight. They did not mention anything to us about closing early or that 7:00 might be a problem. Always an adventure in the BVI.

I have never stayed here overnight. I'm considering it for our charter in June. I like the fact diamond reef is dinghy ride away. I'm wondering why some people on TTOL do not like this anchorage or say to skip it. Can anybody clue me in?

We love it! As you say, Diamond Reef is so close (which was fabulous last year, one of the few places that Irma didn't really get her teeth into). Also usually see Southern Rays and turtles just inside the reef, occasionally an Eagle Ray.

In certain conditions it can be a bit rolly, certainly not as sheltered as some other anchorages. Doubt you'd notice on a cat though.

Close to airport for picking up crew.

Easy sail the next day to absolutely anywhere else in the BVI.

Its a yes from me.
