Visiting SXM in May and made a reservation with Best Deal Car Rental. Does anyone have any feedback on their service and the condition of their vehicles?
Thank You

I would have thought you would ask this before you make a reservation.

Scubaman--It's not like car reservations aren't fully cancellable, and he's not going until May. Sorry, I don't have any info on them though myself. Hopefully someone here does.

But why make one and then research it afterwards? Seems rather backwards.

Kind of like buying a timeshare.

As I said, car rentals are fully cancellable. He probably got a good deal and booked it, and then he can always cancel if reviews are bad.

We have been using Best Deal for years and just used them the last few weeks. Never had a problem with them. Actually the car we just rented was brand new. Give them a try.

Why book now and research later? I just checked out their rates for 2 weeks in June. Something like $177 w/o insurance for cheapest car. Were I going, I'd book that now, just in case the rates go up. Makes a lot of sense to lock in that rate if there's no penalty for cancelling.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Not so much with regards to SXM but I often book hotels and rental cars when I see a reasonable price and it is a place I know I am going. I will then continue to check as the rates often fluctuate and it is best to have something lined up and modify or change if needed.

For the record, one year not too long ago we were not able to use Kenny’s and we did Best Deal. Their rate was excellent and they put us in a brand new car.. We opted to check in first and then call to get the car and they were right there in no time to pick up DH. The gal who picked him up was like a race car driver and he did say she intimidated him with her speed through Mullet but other than that we had no problems with them and if Lesley couldn’t accommodate us, I’d use them again in a heartbeat, assuming their price was right. Their location is, or at least was, very convenient, too, right on the main road near the airport so convenient to return the car on departure day.
Respectfully,
pat

As Carol said, if you get a great deal, lock in the rate first. You can always cancel later.

Thanks for all of your help everyone. I understand the comments of me asking about the company after I have already booked. The price for what I wanted was so good that I thought maybe there would be some hidden fees or mandatory insurance they would force on me when I arrived. Just curious if anyone else had any bad experiences with them. And yes, I'm under no obligation to take the rental. Thank you Carol and thank you Surfer Mike for the good feedback.

Been using Hertz for the last 20 years and always been satisfied both in price and service. They are one of the few that include the Liability insurance, GPS and a front window screen free with rental. Book on line and they give you a 10% discount.
