Feb 22 Reduit Beach & the Jump Up
We took our morning walk and stopped at Rituals for coffee and a muffin before continuing on to Happy Day Bar, closed at this time in the day, to watch the morning boat traffic.

At Happy Day Bar in the morning
Today was going to be a beach day at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort, staying at the Inn we get to use all the facilities there. It started to rain as we were walking down so we stopped into The Lime for a quick drink until it passed. Once at the beach, we got some chairs and found a nice spot near a tree. The swimming was nice, the swells weren’t running hard so it was easy to just float around in the surf. We took a walk on the jetty, and watched some fishermen in their boat sorting their gear out.

Fishermen in their boat
After the beach we went back to the hotel, we wanted to have a nice dinner here so we planned to go to The Fire Grill and check out their new early evening lounge menu. This is one of my favorite restaurants on the island, just like I always stop at Pineapple Pete’s in St. Maarten; I always stop at The Fire grill when in St. Lucia. The lounge menu has a good variety including fajitas; Kim had the beef fajitas, while I opted for the steak and ale pie. Both were excellent, her fajitas arrived on a sizzling platter accompanied by homemade salsa, guacamole, sour cream and shredded cheese, the portion was more than she could finish. My steak and ale pie was served in a small bowl with a light flakey pastry on top and accompanied by a salad and fries, with a couple drinks, tax and tip it was only $65 US; combined with the wonderful setting of the restaurant it was a great experience.

Now she looks happy
After dinner we took the bus to the marina to meet Trendy and Vicky for some drinks at the Boardwalk Bar; Daisy, their dog, isn’t allowed in the Ocean Club anymore so this has become our bar of choice. It was a nice evening with lots of people enjoying themselves at the various restaurants that line the marina. Around 11:00 we decided to go to the jump up in Gros Islet. We walked over using the back roads into the village. It wasn’t as packed as I had seen it before, but there was a good crowd and plenty of room to stand around. The Hairy Clam was closed for the night, so we ran into John and some of the other staff from the bar.

With John and Trendy
Kim had a cold Piton, the only beer she will drink; I stuck with Guinness Export and local spiced rum. We spent a couple hours there and then hopped on one of the buses that queue up at the end of the road and headed back to the hotel for the night.
