Looking at insurance options offered by the car rental companies. My credit card covers the collision, but I'm wondering if it makes sense to buy the liability coverage. How do you know if the insurance offered by the rental company is valid and can anyone respond on the deductibles that they have seen? I don't think there is a deductible on Liability coverage as it is not coverage to protect you, it's to protect the "Victim" of the accident. I think Hertz is the only rental company that includes liability coverage in it's pricing, on SXM, others charge between $5 and $10 per day on top of the standard rate. IMHO Liability coverage is something you should not go without

ACE offers $30k limit with a $2.5k deductible in its base rate. For $8/day you can increase those limits to $1.1 million and $800 deductible. I choose to go with the basic coverage, but YMMV.
