Hey fellow BVI friends,

Heading down on my 5th visit in late October.

I am booked on the 1255pm direct flight from STT to ORD on Saturday. If Im willing to get up at 5am from say the Bight or Cooper do you think I can make it? Or, should I plan to sleep aboard at the base?

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. I have always appreciated our community's willingness to help.

vytisracing - your request for logistics help is confusing.....

It sounds like you are booked to get into STT at 12:55 pm, it also appears that you are chartering a boat. We can not tell from the info presented if you are chartering out of St Thomas or Tortola.

What type of logistics are you looking for? Where will you be when you get up at 5 am? Where are you trying to make it to when you get up at 5 am from say Bight or Cooper?

I think he is leaving Tortola catch a flight out of STT at 12:55. He will need to check the boat in and take the ferry to St. Thomas and get to the airport.

Personally, I think that is too much of a risk. You need to take the first ferry out of Tortola, 7AM, the next one doesn't leave until 9:30/10:00. That would be cutting it way to close for my comfort.

Makes more sense now! Thanks Orange_Burst

Agree with previous poster, taking the 9:30/10 am ferry will not work for a 12:55 pm flight if you are trying to get from Tortola to STT.

The thoughts of ending a vacation on that tight a time schedule would erase all of the relaxing island vibe in a single heartbeat for me.....

Looks like he is chartered out of Frenchtown and wants to know where to anchor the night before he is leaving. If that is correect then I would suggest Christmas Cove for the last night.

Given the information given it would appear the charter is out of Tortola. Otherwise Cooper would make no sense. Cooper and Norman are both reasonable last nights to make it back to base on Tortola, especially road town. So Colleen's advice is the best - staying at the base really is the only good option. Too many things could go wrong otherwise making you miss the flight.

I think everyone agrees, the last reason to throw in is that you'd need to refuel before going to base in most cases. I can't think of a fuel dock open at that hour.

I understand the reluctance to spend the last night on the dock but you can still have some fun at some great restaurants in town or a short cab ride down to Nanny Cay or even West End.
