High winds delayed the start, but the boats were able to get underway on a modified course to celebrate Anguilla Day around noon. One of the best locations to watch was Rendezvous Bay at the turn point and the winner was.... REAL DEAL!

Wish it were true, but deTree was proclaimed the winner. We were hoping for Real Deal!

Ellen,
Say it ain't so! The island was a buzz at the photo finish, which is kinda funny thing to say about a sailboat race.
I heard that da Tree filed a protest, and there was a lot of waving of hands in Sandy Ground, but the committee held Real Deal the winner.
Yesterday we were out sailing with CAPT Roland on Choclat and his mate and I were talking about the race, and he thought Real Deal had won. Everywhere we have been folks have been talking about Real Deal being the winner.
I will have to get to the bottom of this... Inquiring minds want to know... ( I can tell everyone wants to know by how active this post has been )

So I went and search for the answer...
The word on the street is that da Tree will be awarded 1st place tonight. I guess the ceremony is tonight. However the race committee has not officaly annouced da Tree as the winner, which has people still talking. It appears there is a strong outcry for Real Deal.
The race was amazing and folks are still talking about it.

I forgot to pass on what we heard when we were leaving the island. First place was officially awarded to De Tree as Ellen's link showed. According to a guy on the GB Express, on our way to the airport, he told us: That Real Deal actually cross the finish first. The boats were neck and neck... but right before the finish line one of the crew of Real Deal jumped out of the boat. The rules state that a boat has to start and finish with the same amount of people. I think Real Deal was DQ'd, albeit I have not been able to verify that is the case or that is the case or put another way... Not sure if the story is the Real Deal . What I do know is that De Tree is the winner! And here is a picture of the winning boat. The winner of Anguilla Day 2013 Regatta - DE TREE
