Hi There’s a nice review of taking pictures of stars with a digital camera - but it makes extensive use of controls that may not be on entry level cameras : http://www.astropix.com/HTML/I_ASTROP/SETTINGS.HTM . The article does show a DSLR aat the top of the page, though. Locking the mirror up and a really steady mount are really important. Also unsharp mask really helps for good sized star fields (like Orion) with post-processing (e.g. with Photoshop or my fave software - Picture Window). Haven’t done this recently after giving my Canon Rebel II to my grand-daughter, who’s definitely is not into astrophotography. Peace Dugg & Chris Our VI pics are at http://picasaweb.google.com/papadugg/ and our 2012 pics are now on line (Promise to have the 2013 pictures on-line soon)
The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom and no shoes, no shirt, and no problems...KC
