Since there was discussion a while ago about what birds are found in SXM, I thought I would publish a list of birds that we noted during our July 18 - August 5, 2003 trip. There are generally more species present in winter.

Bird List:

The following birds were observed during this trip:

Great Egret
Snowy Egret
Cattle Egret
Green Heron
Black Crowned Night Heron
Great Blue Heron
Little Blue Heron
Red Billed tropic bird
Laughing Gull
Ring-Billed Gull
Royal Tern
Brown Booby
Magnificent Frigate Bird
Cormorant (sp) - Most likely the double crested, but they were just a little too far away for positive ID and there is some overlap of range
Osprey
Ruddy Duck
White Cheeked Pintail
Common Moorhen
Common Coot
Caribbean Coot
Lesser Yellow legs
Black Necked Stilt
Killdeer
Banannaquit
Dark Faced Grassquit
Antillian Bullfinch
