I am not sure if this is an offshoot of Daleo's, the previously discussed SXM Crazy Beach Chairs or a totally new operation. The listing under "Services" sounds like the restroom/shower facilities that have been discussed here as well A pretty extensive menu is listed also. Daleo's and SXM Crazy Beach Chairs share the same listed phone number while Da Waterhole has a different number listed.

We were there yesterday, though it was our first time at Mullet. There were two places renting chairs,as best as i could see. We rented from Rosies and ate there as well, burgers were fine , though it is definitely a shack. I did check out the restroom. You pay at the bar of the other place. The bar looked new, and fairly sturdy in contrast to Rosies. They had power and were making drinks with a blender. I think they had a separate small building that they used to cook food. The bar, restroom, and kitchen all seemed of similar construction. Btw, we went to Mullet based on reviews here. All i can say is wow. The water was beautiful blue, snorkeling was fine at end of the beach, and the waves were invigorating

So! I still can't help but wonder how these structures were allowed to be built on what is either island property or Ansary property.

It sounds as though the 'new place' is really a reincarnation of Daleo's? although that is purely an assumption on my part and perhaps an incorrect assumption at that. He had a long and on-going battle with Ansary over his right to be there in that location - sounds like maybe he won out in the end? And if so - good on him!! Restrooms and a real kitchen with running water sounds great but I still kind of like the idea of the ribs being cooked over the coals and under the trees - seems more islandy/beachy to me but will certainly check it all out and give it a try next time on island.

Respectfully,

pat

It's the old Daleos resurrected. They show a picture of the before and after on their Facebook page. Menu looked great. Charcoal BBQ chicken and ribs with sides will give Rosies a run for it. Open till 7 too.

Welcome to the island...and welcome to Mullett. Do yourself a favor.....next time you go back to Rosies....get the RIBS!!! Rosie's ribs are THE BEST RIBS you will find at any beach bar anywhere!!! The ribs are her claim to fame!!!....and what keeps everyone going back for them year after year...after year....after year!!! Three and a half weeks to go, before i can finally get the first of my annual fix. smile

If you’re able to keep your chairs after 4:00 which is about the time most places start picking them up, I might be tempted to try the new place. Although like Ed, it will be hard to walk by Rosie’s with the aroma of her BBQ Ribs filling the air.

Rosies ribs are so much better than Daleos. But Daleos hands down has the best hospitality!!!

It's funny, we have spent years at Rosie's. I think since she first opened and I would definitely
say her ribs and chicken are the best. My husband loves her hotdogs.
There have been quite a few times that we decided to give Daleos a try, since there are some good choices there, but had to wait forever for
our order!!!

Pictures of Daleos Beach Bar and menu. Order food at bar and pick up at kitchen. It was pretty busy today as you can see the line at the kitchen.

So I loved the beach, and the burgers smelled and tasted great, but I am a fan of smoked ribs - low and slow, usually for 6 to 7 hours. The ribs looked grilled to me, though if we go back again, I will try them.

KennDeb--thanks for the pictures! Did you eat there? I must admit that the expanded menu looks really great, versus the limited menu at Rosie's..

It looks like they are charging $4 for a beer... As far as I remember, Rosie’s price is $2.

Rosie's Caribes are $3. Her hot dogs are $3. Daleos has to pay for the facilities and bar. Hes doing a pretty good business especially at the bar.

Rosie's was $3/beer last March and also Nov. I personally will still support Rosie's.

My issues with Rosies stem from
Being chased away. We were able to receive free chairs from the towers - (pre Irma) her guy was working those chairs as well. This happened to myself and two other people I know. Half way through the day her guys bullied us to move our chairs so they could accommodate more people. It was absolute bs!!! I still get ribs there and visit with Chester but have been getting chairs at Daleos If I can!!!

I think they put the chairs too close together and understand your concern. I would not care for that either.

Last year we went to Mullet, my all time favorite SXM beach, and based on that one experience I don’t know if I’ll ever go back. The chairs were so tight together that the umbrellas from each set-up were almost touching and there was virtually no room to pass through the set-ups to get back to Rosie’s or down to the water. It was a mess and a total turn off to me.

I can see why. It looks to be a nice facility and I prefer that side of the beach.

Went there this morning, it was overcast, so we decided to pass and try again tomorrow, but as Pat said, the umbrellas were so close together, I could not get through them to see the water, I had to find the break between the chairs from Rosies and the chairs from Daelo's to get to the water.

As much as we love Rosie’s ribs and are in the habit of renting chairs from her since our Towers chairs are no more, next trip we’ll try chairs at Daleos and get our rib lunch at Rosies. The guys at Rosie’s are ridiculous in the way they set the chairs up so close to each other. There’s no such thing as a private conversation when your neighbor is all but sitting in your lap!

I questioned one worker about the way the loungers were set, he said he had no choice as the boss told him to do them in such a manner.

To bad. Maybe if enough complain and walk away word will get to the boss. Maybe this is a high season problem and will be better in low season.

I wonder if the chair set up is limited to a certain space ...that said , the be@ch is plenty big enough to extended spacing .
We tend to bring our own chairs and sit away from the over crowded area.

Completely agree Pat. Last year on two visits we did not make it (purposefully?) to Mullet once. Because of the very issues being mentioned. When you neighbor whom you could share a towel with lights up a cigar...OMG! And the tips of the umbrellas are touching.

I don't need to hear their conversations or arguments. I should not be able to read the book along with them.

Maybe I might pay for an extra chair next to me and use it to set things on so it's unoccupied if it's a problem

Yes, it is a problem, and really no reason for it. umbrella
We try to get there early and get an end chair or find the biggest space available.

They have me, because I don't want to give up that water on a calm day---soo blue!! umbrella
