By at least 2 hours as of now. Anyone returning today via PHL will have the same or more delay leaving SXM. I just happen to be on this debacle today and found out before the gate agents in DAY knew about it. Had I found out 30 minutes earlier, I could have switched to CLT and not been delayed 2 hours+. The flight leaving PHL is delayed (and still on the ground) leaving BOS but this was known around 5:00 and is due to crew issues. The smart business thing to have done would be bring in another crew for the BOS-PHL leg or bring in another plane in PHL so as to not delay the 150 or so people who will be taking this flight to SXM and a like number returning. I am guessing the majority of passengers connecting via PHL on the return today will miss their connections and since this is NOT weather related, they need to lean on AA for compensation. What a poor excuse of an airline and customer service. Thanks to FlightAware as that is how I found out by tracking the incoming flight to PHL. AA did not have the delay in their system, but they do now.

In my experience, they'll figure out a way to make it weather-related.

And I just tried to speak to a gate agent who was TOTALLY useless. All she could tell me was "we don't have a plane here and it is 2 hours late". The agent in DAY told me it was "crew issues" and the agent here would not confirm that. No weather issues in BOS. Now, the same agent just came over and apologized and said AA "just updated the system" and she confirmed it WAS a CREW ISSUE.

Anyone on this flight returning to PHL today needs to hit AA for a hotel and food if they miss their connection as this is 100% on AA.

We've had flights canceled due to "crew issues", and were told that it was weather that caused the crew to be delayed getting a flight to the airport where the flight originates. Just saying...

It would not surprise me but 2 agents have now told me it is due to crew issues with the incoming flight to PHL. I received email and text notification at 6:37 am today but as I said, the agent in DAY confirmed the delay around 5:15 or so this morning, that is once I provided her the incoming flight #.

This route had been using a 767 but late last week they went back to the 757 and even went back and forth a couple of days, alternating between the two. The nice thing with the 767 was it overnighted here in PHL so there was no chance of the incoming flight being delayed like this.

Now, AA HAD to know last night there was going to be a crew issue with the incoming flight top PHL and they did nothing about it.

I hope someone on the return today can report how the delay is dealt with in regard to missed connections as there will be MANY.

Well, sh*t, sorry to hear that. AA's website is listing an estimated time as of now, of 11:36 AM from Philly. Not a good way to start your trip.

Now scheduled to arrive here (PHL) at 11:01, which is likely going to mean a 12:00-12:30 departure at best.

The people leaving SXM on the return today to PHL are totally screwed.

I guess it arrived at PHL around 10:47, so hopefully you will get left earlier than 12:30, should be able to turn it around in an hour, max? AA is still showing it leaving there at 11:40.. If so, they should be boarding?? FlightAware shows departure from the gate around 11:40.

Got off about 11:45 and hit the ground at 3:15. Took and hour from then before I exited the airport but it got worse and the immigration line was very long with KLM coming in
