They have over 10,600 confirmed infections and only 25 deaths. Ticked up from 10 that ticked up from 1. NYC 48,400 and 1397 dead. The NYC/West Chester infection ratio has been steady at 4 to 1. But the death rate is way lower. Long Island counties combined approx 17,600 infections and 145 dead.
Do they have magic hospitals there in West Chester? Trying the new combo treatment? I’m glad for them, but Detroit, Louisiana and other places getting whacked.

Could be that the infected patients haven't progressed to that end of life yet but are coming to it. Hope not.

It just jumped to 64. Having watched it for many days in a row, it was unusually low. Hope it stays that way.

NYC has 4 times the infections as West Chester, NYC 76k vs 14k NYC has 16 times the deaths as West Chester, NYC 4k vs only 283
Eventually, everyone will have run their course with COVID but radically different percentages over almost a week now.
Definitely bucking trends of similar infection counts.
Another Comparison: Detroit Wayne/Oakland Counties = 12,700 infections, 607 dead
Dozens more in many states and cities.

So 10 days later here are the stats between NYC and West Chester just to the north
NYC: 131,661 infected cases; 13,202 deaths or 10.03% West Chester; 22,476 infected cases; 668 Deaths or 2.97%
10 days is along time for things to normalize, but will look a few weeks from now

For clarification - West Chester, New York is actually Westchester - one word - and it’s a county rather than a town. It’s often referred to as the NY ‘Gold Coast’ and closely akin to its cousin, Fairfield County in CT. There are a lot of corporate heads and much wealth in both locations, allowing for a lot of travel among its citizenry which might (or might not?) have something to do with their Covid-19 numbers. The NYC numbers reflect a huge number of people living in very close quarters whereas the Westchester numbers refer to a lesser populace spread over a lot of area. Does it make a difference? I honestly don’t know but just throwing it out there for consideration.
Respectfully,
pat

Thanks. You are right. Clearly closer quarters means more infection opportunity but not sure how mortality rates differ once in a hospital. Time will tell to see if they all even out in the end.
