10/25/03 – 11/5/03 Trip Report

Club O:
It is true, b’fast has be changed to continental buffet only.

The Perch has been painted, deck added (eventually all the way around) and Willy is running it. Happy Hour every day 3 – 5 pm

Guard no longer opens the gate – electronic devices have been added and guests are given a card to ‘swipe’ upon entering and exiting.

Fence has been removed, sand and chairs moved around a little bit due to the erosion.

There was an incident one day with a guy who had been sitting near Papaguayo eating Triskets for days. It was discovered that there was a camera in the cracker box followed by an ugly scuffle with one of the guards. The guy put up quite a fight and ended up getting away with the camera.

Meals:
We were very laid-back this trip as far as dining went, saved a lot of money as a result (most meals were under/about $50, with the exception of Rainbow)…

Ate multiple meals (5 or 6!) at BAYWATCH (not just because it was close – it was GREAT!) The mussels are absolutely unsurpassed (the only problem with them was that they came in on Friday and were GONE by Saturday!!) That’s OK, the beer-battered scallops (as well as everything else on the menu and breakfast) were great too! They stayed open a little later on Halloween to accommodate a group and then said they’d probably just go on stay til 5 or 5:30 pm from now on…. Cheryl is an absolute DOLL!

Tried Uncle Harry's for the first time and it was great too! Very casual, fun, and delicious (had lobster and grilled shrimp).

Dinghy Dock – again, casual, fun and delicious – probably the best ribs we’ve had anywhere on-island in 12 trips. The drinks are always good too, since you mix your own!

Tried Cote Plages too… easy, nice, and very reasonable.

Banana's had a lobster special at lunch the day we went shopping and we couldn’t resist. Excellent.

Rainbow for anniversary. Excellent service, delicious food, beautiful deck upstairs.

Lost our appetites after having to change a flat in the rain on the way to Grand Case one night (had a little trouble because the wheel was rusted on; thankfully, someone finally stopped to help) Had salads and appetizers at Le California , which were good.

Planned to go to Loterie Farm’s Hidden Forest Café but waited too late in the trip – they were only serving Thursday thru Saturday evenings.

Bar-hopped one night having sushi at Bamboo Bernie's then proceeded to look for fun at BBB, Lady C, Soprano’s and ended up dancing at Cheri’s (something we haven’t done in years).

Made our first trip to Pinel which was nice. Went on a day when no ships were in so it was quiet. Had a nice lunch of ribs at the restaurant.

Halloween was a blast! Our group of four won the Grand Prize which was a free week in a Deluxe Mini Suite!! There were many good costumes and a very nice fireworks display.

Met Deepti/bought jewelry!! Lovely girl! DK Gems is top-notch, no question about it.

Used Cell One for phone service. They were closed on Sat. afternoon when we arrived so we had to go back on Monday. Bought a $50 card and didn’t realize when it was used up… thus, we had to make a quick trip to Marigot to get a new one – we might go back to ECC just so we don’t have to deal with the card system. It is imperative that we are able to check in on the teenager we leave at home…

We each had three massages with Ana to make our trip complete. In addition to giving wonderful massages, she is a beautiful person.

Met a few TTOLers along the beach. Clem & Paulette, Mike B, Doug, Sal & Susie, Chris & Paul (who had his birthday while we were there), and more that I cannot remember.

And so, another fabulous trip is over. Now we begin the count-down for spring!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />
