If so, I suspect it won't be the only one filing BK.

I am in contact with NCL...because i have an NCL Caribbean cruise booked in February 2021 and a Regent Baltic cruise booked in August 2021 and a Regent Asian cruise booked in March 2022.

So far we have been assured that NCL has plenty of money

Frankly, I suspect that employees who deal directly with customers would be the LAST to know, if they were to file. That story is about a month old, so perhaps that is good news, that they haven't filed yet.

Quite frankly...I think it was a threat ...used to obtain a Government bail out. What they have told us is that there was a cash flow problem....and that has now been alleviated and they have plenty of money to continue. I am also good friends with my travel agent who sent me the email she received from NCL.

Lots of companies have been playing a game i think. Regardless....none of our cruises have been postponed or cancelled so far...so I am hoping things will proceed.

As far as I know, the cruise lines have received NO government bailouts at all, because they don't pay US taxes. That was what I understood, although I could be wrong, as I haven't followed that.

So far my purchase of carnival stock has been a winner, but time will tell.

You cant keep all these boats anchored/parked forever.

Their situation is like the airlines —- minimizing “ cash burn”.

Id go on a cruise right now if I knew it would hit most of the itinerary as scheduled.

I thought all cruise lines were on a 'no sail' order until August?

You are correct Carol. According to my Travel Agent (as of Yesterday), August 1st is "supposed" to be the start-up date for any of her bookings. We have an August 15th Cruise sailing out of New Orleans, and she said that it probably would not happen. We booked it last year, and it is paid for, but she said the Cruise lines that sail from N.O. (Disney, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and NCL), have not made any plans to restart sailing out of New Orleans for now. IF (that's a big if) any Cruises start in August, they will be from Florida (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, etc). Cruising looks iffy at best. Not many people are willing to book Cruises with the uncertainty of the sailings, the safety once onboard, and the chance to get a refund if canceled. We are hoping that our Cruise Line for August cancels, and we can get a full refund.

Thanks for that link Cathyg. I am hoping RCCL does something similar. My Travel agent has already noted on our account that we wish to get a refund on our cruise if it is canceled by Royal Caribbean. The Norwegian Getaway was the ship scheduled to sail from New Orleans, and I don't see it or any Caribbean destinations thus far.

I am trying to keep track of the cruise lines and tours we are booked on...honestly everything seems to be canceled through September....and some even in October.

We have a Tauck tour to Antarctica booked in December and an NCL cruise in February. I am hopeful both will transpire but who knows.
