I imagine that was a rhetorical question, but the answer is the quick getaway.

Purely a personal opinion, this, but if there were two businesses I would be totally unwilling to work on St. Maarten, they would be the Robby Lottery Booths and the Chinese groceries. It seems the ‘low season’ is always a high time for island crime to proliferate and I suspect the Covid19 and all the additional side issues it has created, will only add to the numbers this year. These two types of businesses seem to take an unbelievable number of hits.

Respectfully,

pat

I spoke with Junior earlier this week and he said $$ locals have (if any was saved) is running low since there is basically no work in the tourist industry right now. Prices of groceries and some supplies are higher as well so seeing increased crime would not be a surprise. He wants the PM to be cautious but he also knows, NO tourists=NO work=NO $$.

Until tourism comes back, low season will last into what is normally high season and these crimes will persist.

For sure, the average person on SXM who depends on the tourist industry is probably getting close to desperate at this point. Sad..

I can't see any of those big Cat excursions or sunset sails starting up for quite a while. I know I for one would stay clear.

Yes I would have but I believe the sanitary conditions would be better on a plane currently than a party boat.

USA and Washington State comments do not belong in a SXM thread and neither do the comparisons.....
