Today broke cloudy, windy, and rainy. It was not looking like a good beach day. But, we are on vacation, and gray skies, and an occasional shower is not going to stop us from at least trying to have a good time.

We made breakfast in this morning – Ham, egg, and cheese on toasted bagels, along with the obligatory morning coffee. We enjoyed our food on the balcony, listening to the surf crash on the beach just a few dozen yards from us, as we contemplated what to do today.

We soon decided, that we came to Saint Martin to enjoy ‘our’ beach, and that’s what we intended to do. Now we usually walk from Mont Vernon down to the Club O beach, but today we decided to drive instead. So we packed up our stuff, headed to our rental car, and drove to beach.

It was about 0930 when we parked at Pedro’s, and the beach was deserted except for a few Club O patrons who were walking the beach.

The wind was really howling, and it seemed the umbrellas would rip themselves apart, or become airborne at any minute. Never the less, we staked our claim, and set up. – Then the rain came, and it stayed…

After about a half an hour we gave it up, packed up and headed home to Mont Vernon, defeated. Sitting on the balcony, we talked out what our alternate plan for the day would be now. We are not the type, who goes in for shopping or gambling so that was out. We have been to Maho several times, and besides it would not be that great of a day for watching the heavy iron flying in, so we sat here mulling over our options, when the rain stopped.

An hour later, the sky was still gray; the wind still blowing pretty good, but it was at least dry. So we decide to go for it and returned to our chairs at the beach – this time though we walked.

The closer we got to our spot on the beach the stronger the wind blew. But we were determined to stick it out and we did. We stayed at the beach until about 1500, enjoyed talking to some folks we met there, and of course some ‘Adult Beverages’ at the Perch.

Today was also the day that the water was off. That meant no showers for us. Not an ideal situation, but what are you going to do. The infrastructure need to be maintained, and it would be no different than if we were at home. If something breaks, it needs to be fixed. We understand that. We might be inconvenienced, but hey that’s life, and it’s not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.

So we washed off with the water we had stored up and decided to enjoy a pizza from the little shop here at Mont Vernon
