Just got back after two wonderful weeks and thought I'd post a few bits of news...saw and partied with many of our TTOL pals..GT, Mandy, Tonni, Linda ( with a K) Sharon (Sharnightqueen) Frank (Angelinacat) and all the resident maniacs ( you KNOW who you are!) and hooked up with Mike Kneafesy and his fab new cat Aristocat 2..what a beaut! Mike took a bunch of us over to the Diamond Cay side of Jost for lunch at Foxy's Taboo which, as I've said elsewhere, is just terrific. Very different menu and wonderful ambience..good mooring and docks too. Mike's boat sails as good as it looks heading back to CGB at an easy 6 to 7 knots and it has some wonderful touches..easy davits for the dingy.. "sugar scoops " at each stern to swim from.Really nice and congrats to him. Finally got to try Coco Plums and it lived right up to expectations..a wonderful addition to our little village of Apple Bay ( got to have the skillet mushrooms)..Of course returned to Brandywine and Spaghetti Junction..great to hang with Davide and Cece and John and April and eat wonderful food.
Jet Skis??? yes they were there ( although I'd been told they were gone) I spotted three on Larry's trailer and two moored just offshore one day but I never saw them being used.Dont know what to make of that .
The cruise ships were in almost everyday making CGB really crowded but by mid afternoon they were gone..
A lot of celebs seemed to be around..Magic Johnson..Oprah was on Necker and reports of Jimmy B sightings abounded ( I think I spotted his new boat as I sailed back into Road Harbour with the Patouche gang)..I got to hang out with Peter Jennings , baseball star Sandy Koufax, and CSI's lovely Jorja Fox and spend a wonderful half hour chatting with the new chief minister Dr Orlando Smith..all I have to say is this guy is for real. I did not bend his ear on the "hot button" topics of jet skis and cruise ships but he told me has a long list of improvements he plans to make and is working his way down it..from the massive cleanup after the storms ( you'd hardly know they were there) to removing a bunch of speed bumps ( weird to go through Carrot Bay without losing you fillings!). I think the islands are (finally) in very capable hands.
Altogether another memorable trip and many happy times.
On a personal note..got our remodel plans approved and we should start in mid Feb..hopefully to be done by May..the old Chateau wont be the same!! Of course we'll have to pop down to check on progress..!!!
