Dec 18, The Adventure Begins
For me it is the moment I step out the door of the plane and that warm moist air hits me whether from the sea or the forest you can smell the life in it, that’s when I know I’ve arrived. My Jet Blue flight went off without a hitch as usual, even with just over an hour between flights at JFK. This time of year many St. Lucians return home for the holidays and hearing them speak in their distinct dialect reminded me of how much I love the island. I had arranged a taxi from PHV Tours, the driver was waiting at the terminal for me and we headed to Soufriere along the west coast road. The charter starts in Rodney Bay, but since the other guest were already on the island I opted to join Skyelark in Soufriere allowing the boat to depart in the morning which will give us another day in the Grenadines. I had a duffle bag of clothes and school supplies for the childrens home and dropped them off at St. Lucia Debs shop (TA destination expert) as arranged.

Petit Piton from Soufriere

I gave Dan a call on my Digicel phone and he picked me up at the dingy dock in town, luggage loaded we set off for the boat which was anchored in our usual spot beside Petit Piton. Benny Jr. is now running offshore fishing charters out of Rodney Bay so it was his sister who came to take our dinner order. We enjoyed some gin and tonics in the cockpit as the sun went down, and awaited our transport to the restaurant. The meal was good as usual; I had chicken cooked in Creole sauce, accompanied by an assortment of side dishes served family style.
Back at the boat we had nightcaps of rum on the rocks under the beautiful starlit sky. Some clouds rolled in during the night and I probably had to open and close the hatch a few times during the night. Tomorrow it will off to Cumberland Bay in St. Vincent for our international crew.

Drink all day at home, your friends worry about you; do it on vacation and they say "what a good time you're having". Save your friends needless worry, travel more!
