Opted to fly into Sacramento. My Brotherr lives in the area, we had dinner with him Friday night. After arriving Sac we went for lunch at Lucca on J Street. The Governor happened to be having lunch there as well. So we got to see Arnold as he departed the restaurant. We had dinner at Celastin's. They do caribbean/creole food. Food good and the price was reasonable. Neat decor
The next morning we took RT 50 to South Lake Tahoe. A beautiful ride and glad the weather was clear. I imagine it would be a bit tricky in the snow.
We stayed at the Best Western Station House. Nice simple place, off the main blvd. Nice and quiet. Large room with a very nice bathroom. Walk to Heavenly Gondola and close to the Neveda line. Cook to order breakfast included. Outdoor hot tub too.
We did not get any new snow but had beautiful sunny weather everyday with little wind. Great for skiing.
Skied Heavenly, Squaw, Alpine Meadow, Kirkwood and Northstar. Skiing during the week was great. No crowds and no lift lines. We got the interchangable lift pass included in our package.
We enjoyed the nightlife in South Lake Tahoe. Very different from any other ski trip we have been on. We did the Improv at Harvey's one night. Saw the Doobie Brothers at Harrah's on Valentine's night. Karaoked 3 times. I even started things off at Caesar's karaoke night. Only spent about $40 at the slots the entire week. We are not big gamblers.
We had nice dinners at Nephale's and Dory's Oar. Dory's Oar also has a pub upstairs with typical pub food. Did that one night, and enjoyed that meal too.
Spent our last night in Sacramento. Had dinner at the Rio City Cafe in Old Sacramento. Had a great meal and very nice atmosphere.
All in all great trip. Would go back and stay at the Station House again. Maybe next time we will get some new snow.
