I’m amazed every day at how the same things can look so different. Saba has been mostly here for our entire trip - some days vaguely but most days this trip brilliantly clear, so but for a half hour the other morning we couldn’t find it at all and then it was back again. And very late yesterday evening I could swear I saw the headlights on the occasional car out there. Is that even possible?
And then there were two....... For the entire trip so far there has been one huge and beautiful yacht anchored in the bay here but lo, as of this morning (maybe last night, too, and I just missed it.....) another yacht of about equal size and stature has arrived. I have no clue to whom they might belong but they both look gorgeous to me.
We lunched today on left-overs from Sublime last night - steak, cheese, bread and crackers and all yummy with a glass of vino to wash it down. God is good.
Funny day, today. Cloudy skies and beyond breezy. Not one person has been in the water along the beach here that I’ve seen. We haven’t been anywhere, done anything or seen anyone so far today and that’s been fine with us. I guess we just needed a day to unwind from all the unwinding we’ve been doing so far this trip.
Noticed as we drove through Mullet today we saw lots of golfers the first Sunday we were here and haven’t seen many at all since. Maybe they went to look for all the missing Maho Beach airplane watchers?
Dinner - back to the Spaghetti House - Katrina is a sweetheart, the food is simple but delicious and so very reasonable. J had lasagne and I had a fettuccini with porcini mushrooms. J had a dish of Rhum Raisin raisin ice cream and with two soft drinks our total check came to a whopping big Fifty dollars including a ten dollar tip. And we walked away stuffed and with reheats for lunch tomorrow!
St. Maarten is so full of so many surprises.
Respectfully,
pat

Thanks again for another update. I am going to have to put the Spaghetti House on the list for March. Enjoy your last few days.

And on some days you can catch a flash of sunlight bouncing off a window! Fun to watch the headlights going down the hill.

Linda,
Spaghetti House just ISN’T a place to be impressed about or not. IMHO, if you’re looking for high end foodstuffs served by hovering wait staff in a glamorous setting, this is not the place.
However, if you want some good Italian take-out or you want to sit on the sidewalk and enjoy the antics of the people going by or the kitties playing with each other, we find it to be an enjoyable spot.
Katrina couldn’t be any nicer and her kitchen person is a bit of a hoot if she’s slow and you’re able to engage her in conversation.
Our food has always been good, more than adequately portion sized and very reasonably priced and this is what impresses me - the consistency of the place. What more could I possibly ask for?! But remember, I’m not a foodie and I really do think Mickey D’s fries are yummy and I’m not afraid to say so......🙃🙃
And our lazy days, while certainly not for everyone and particularly not for island newbies, have been absolutely just what the doctor ordered for us for this trip. Total relaxation. That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

The Spaghetti House is a few doors down the sidewalk from Jules Patisserie and across the street (sort of....) from Fat Tony’s in Jordan Village at Cupecoy area.

Sounds kind of like the defunct Pizza Pasta. I was never a huge fan but my wife enjoyed it. I will take your recommendation and give it a try sometime, hopefully.

Hey Pat - when we were in CT in October Bill had to leave the hotel every morning and drive to McDonalds for a sausage biscuit with egg for me!

Enzo passed on his tricks of the trade to the staff at Spaghetti House and while I don’t know real Italian food from firsthand familial knowledge, I do know what tastes good to me and everything we’ve had there has been good.
Missing you guys but hoping you’re doing well and looking forward to Christmas and then March/April and I’m sure you are!

ruralcarrier - I have dined at both the old Pizza Pasta and the Spaghetti House and for my taste Pizza Pasta had the better food. Hope that helps.

ruralcarrier - I have dined at both the old Pizza Pasta and the Spaghetti House and for my taste Pizza Pasta had the better food. Hope that helps. Sorry, I disagree. I'm 100% Italian, live in a great restaurant area, and have spent a lot of time in Italy, especially where my father was born. BUT, everything is taste---that's why we all aren't waiting in line in front of the same restaurants. LOL

I so agree with you, Terry. We each have likes and dislikes, preferences and ‘no ways’ which to me is one of the best reasons to experiment and try new things. You never know. You just NEVER KNOW. And I would think you’d be hard pressed to find anything more authentic than Enzo, but what the heck do I know? Please don’t answer that.....😊😊
