Just returned from 3 weeks at the Royal Palm. The weather was just about perfect and almost all our experiences were the same. The best restaurants were:
Peg Legs for filet mignon-superb!
Pineapple Pete's (new) very good(near Peg Legs)
Jimbo's (Mexican-new)very good fajitas
LaGondola(at the Atlantis Casino) Exceptional
Lido Supermarket BBQ in the parking lot! Food is really good, but must get there early, because they run out of food- cooking noon to 4am! Ribs $3.00 and chicken 2.00 Sides are available.
Hideaway always good
Bistro Caribe marvelous (went to the Grande Case Festival)
Uncle Harry's Excellent
Captain Oliver's Sunday Buffet Simply delicious 25.00 per person-unbelievably good. Well worth trying
Boat House very good, but service was very slow
Antoines in Philipburg suberb food, service and value
Mario's excellent, but enjoyed Antoine's more!
Zee Best in Simpson Bay best croissants this side of heaven!
Cheri's food was surprisingly good and enormous portions
Kangaroo Court has a new menu and needs a little more attention by the owner
Some restaurants only took the euro at 1.25 and that made any meal 25% more! (Mario's, Bistro Caribe) Had 2 salads and lemonade for lunch at a place at the Marina Royale and the price was almost 50.00, driven up by the euro.
Anyone ever eat at LeCigale near Marigot? Seemed mightly pricely, changed our minds and canceled. Would love to know if anyone ever ate there.
We had a terrible experience at Hot Tomatoes, not that great at Toula Mangoes on the Boardwalk in Philipsburg (same owners as Kangaroo Court, and just an ok experience at Indiana Beach in Simpson Bay.)
We certainly ate a lot, don't you think? We walked, shopped a little, and visited with friends from a ship. Tried to keep our profile down as I was recuperating from surgery. We bought a lovely pendant and chain from Deepti at DK Jewelry and she was fair, honest and delightful to work with. Marius at St. Louis Car Rental was terrific, fixing a dead battery in record time! Oh, can I see that green water and all the gorgeous rainbows! I close my eyes and dream. Can't wait to return <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/band.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Banana.gif" alt="" />!
