We are chartering a 2020 Saba 50 and it has lights on the dingy davits. Does anyone know how to shut them off for the night?
Hint - we know it’s nothing easy! We asked the chattering company and none of them knew.

There is a remote for the dinghy davit - and there is a remote. On the remote there is a picture of a light. The charter company (& all of us) have tried many combinations to try and turn off with no success.

The light has to be on a breaker. As mentioned turn each breaker off until you find it. The problem might be what else is on that breaker. It might also be wired to the same breaker that actually powers the davit motor. If so that breaker might not be on the panel but located with or near the anchor windless breaker. You probably also have a fuse panel somewhere on the boat however they are often unlabeled.

Did you look to see if you could find the manual online?

In the nav station, pull out the black electrical tape.
Cut two 8" strips, and carefully apply one strip over
each light. Use additional strips if full coverage is
not achieved with initial strips. Hate to do this to
a brand new boat, but this worked on my '66 Chevy
Truck when I had an idiot light on the console that
wouldn't go off!

We have tried several of the options you all suggested to no avail. We noticed when using the dinghy today that the lights would turn off automatically when the dinghy was being raised and lowered (just when button pushed) but would stay on the rest of the time. We finally sent my brother-in-law down in the cockpit lockers to kill the fuse for the night. We are wondering (since it is a brand new boat) if it is wired wrong in the remote and is supposed to be automatic. So problem not solved, but fixed for us on this journey!

Thank you all for your input!

A help to charterers going forward might be to squawk this issue on your check-out sheet, so perhaps a boat-briefing might answer the question for the next group of folks. Could be a " safety feature" to help prevent dinghy theft, but I do really value my night-vision in the cockpit later of an evening. As well as concern about the boat's battery banks.
