Heading to Barbados in Sept. My passport will expire in early October. Is that going to be a problem?
The reason I'm asking is I remember reading on a Caribbean forum somewhere that some island wouldn't let you in with a passport getting ready to expire. True? False? Rumor?
Thanks,
Michael....

Don't know about Barbados in particular, as some places require a passport to be good for six months after you return. Best thing would be to go ahead and get it renewed, say in August.

You have plenty of time to renew it, mine took only 3 weeks non expedited.

Thanks everyone.
After much searching I found a link on the Barbados London embassy site stating the passport must not be expiring within 6 months of your visit.
So even though we're visiting in Sept and my passport expires in Oct, I will have to get a new passport.
In fact some airlines will not allow you to board to certain destinations if your passport is to expire within 6 months. All depends on the airline and the country you're going to.

Agreed, it all depends on the particular destination. As saildoggie said, it doesn't take long to renew though.
