Terri--what is that bush by your front door? Doesn't look like bougainvillea but it is beautiful!

To the original poster--what are your specific questions??

We just returned home from almost two and a half weeks there, just like The_Lurker, and while I don’t know what you specifically want to know, I can tell you we had a wonderful stay.

BSV is not high end marble and chrome cold vacationing decor like some hotels and like the timeshares we once owned but it is so much more and everything you could possibly want in an oceanfront beachside retreat - Cozy, comfy, very nicely decorated in a beachy theme, and basically everything you might need for a vacation home is supplied. Plenty of free and convenient parking and next door to a restaurant if you want a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner and don’t want to do it yourself.

The only drawback (for some I imagine but definitely NOT for us!) we’ve found is it’s very close proximity to the airport but if you enjoy plane watching, which we definitely do, you’re in a heavenly location tucked between the airport runway fence and the ocean. Planes out the front door and boats to yachts to ships off your back porch. It just couldn’t get any better as far as I’m concerned.

The staff is warm and friendly and very patient. They are more than willing to help with any special assistance if you might need it - while my DH loved the comfy soft mattress, I needed a backboard and they were right there with it the minute I asked if they had one. And that’s their typical reaction to everything.

We typically make our experience there even better by using ShopnDropSXM grocery restocking - there’s something wonderful about arriving and being able to go straight to the fridge for a cold drink or whatever your pleasure. And this year, for the first time, I utilized their next day laundry 24 hour service and found it to be very good and extremely reasonable as well.

The pool overlooks the ocean and there’s rarely more than 3 to 4 people there, if that, and plenty of poolside chaise lounges, too.

If you’re looking for the perfect Beachsude retreat I don’t think you can go wrong at BSV.

Respectfully,

pat

Carol everyone is calling it a bougainvillea,
but I’m not sure. I found some other photos,
I missed, of their beautiful gardens.

Place is so special!

Terry,

Your photos are great. And now that I know how to post them, I guess I’ll have to start taking some again.

Once more, thank you and sorry the piña colada’s never happened.

Respectfully,

pat

Terry--If I saw a close-up, I could tell for sure. I only asked because I thought almost everything they have there is bougainvillea. I have lots of them here and they are beautiful, but the thorns are a b*tch!! grin

Yes Carol and others. It is Bougainvillea. I actually tried to propagate it. I succeeded but it was much smaller than the ones that grow wild.
Cheers

Carol, I haven't been there in a little over a year because of COVID, but some villas, like 13, have several hibiscus in addition to the bougainvillea. You can see more of the hibiscus in her last picture.

even Venmo or Apple pay would be nice. Mailing a check seems so old school, but it works, and it's really not that inconvenient, if you're in the states that is.

I think that I knew this at one time, but do not remember. Does Beachside Villas have daily maid service? I am tentatively looking at spending my first two weeks there and moving on to Terres Basse afterwards.

They used to have maid service (only) six days a week, but it's every day now. Really great gals!!

I'll just add that not only the gals are fantastic, but the whole staff at BSV are the best. Most of the staff has been there for years. They all are wonderful people who treat you like family.

Could this be the start of a new trend on the island with not accepting credit cards or just a few places and restaurants? We are arriving on the island on the 29Th of this month and now I'm rethinking how much cash to bring.

Not a new trend; the places mentioned that are cash only have always been cash only.

On credit card vs cash front I’ve notice this trip ....seems more instances than ever before, when you use credit card, they don’t let you add the tip the on the card....they want cash....dave

There are plenty of ATM's on the Island so no problem with cash access

We've been coming to "our" island for the last 20 years. We've stayed in so many lovely places on both sides of the island. Our go to place for the last 12 years or so has always been Beachside villa's. My catch phrase for this lovely place is: "You will want for nothing"!!! For us, it has everything we want in a lovely place to stay. The villa's are really nice, full kitchen, ( we don't always want to go out for meals) full AC! Dish TV, the view is spectacular!! You CAN'T beat this anywhere on the island tip to toe. Open balcony door, on your own beach!! There are beach chairs, deck chairs, table for dinning out on the deck! Full size living room!! Did I mention the lovely pool with a gazebo and pool chairs. No worries, they provide fluffy beach towels too!! IMHO, it is very safe to stay at BSV, it is gated with gate codes you will receive in advance, they change frequently as well. There is a night time guard patrolling the grounds, you will always feel safe and at home at BSV!! http://www.beachsidevillas.com/
