First trip report, first trip to St Maarten:
4/24 AA flight 667 non-stop from JFK no problems or issues, great flight. Arrived passed through immigration promtly and on to Unity to get rental car. Unity was definitley the way to go. Thank you Michael.

Something to note before I get to the meat of the report. My wife is and always will be a 4 star Luxury Hotel kind of girl.

After picking up the car and driving toward our resort (Oyster Bay Beach resort) I noticed a change in my wife. She became quiet and sullen. Must admit that driving through Simpson and Phillipsburg is not very endearing to first time visitors (this attitude would change as the week went on). Her mood was very uplifted once we arrived at Oyster Pond. What a view from the top of the hill.

Stayed in a one bedroom overlooking Dawn Beach at the Oyster Bay. Resort is terrific, location is wonderful and the staff couldn't be nicer. Met Peggy when we checked in, what a sweetheart.

Resturants:
Le Planteur (Oyster bay): Decent food, not worth the price but the view is terrific.
L' Alabama (Grand Case): As good as any gourmet meal that I've had in NYC at 1/3 the price. Highly recommended.
Peg Leg Pub (Simpson Bay): Great casual place, excellent food.
L'Abourge Gourmand (Grand Case): Right up there with L' Alabama.
Mr Busby's (Oyster Bay): great burgers & fries, 75 cent Caribs. Wife wasn't crazy about the mice roaming under the deck.
Barefoot Terrace (Oyster bay): Just OK for lunch & dinner
Jade (Oyster Bay Resort): Eat there only as a last resort. Tasteless food, nice setting.
Antoine's (Philipsburg): Nice view, very good food, more expensive than the Grand Case resturants and not as good.

Beaches:
Believe it or not we spent the entire time on Dawn Beach. Met some really nice people and just kept hooking up there. It is a truly beautiful beach. Snorkled only 1 day (Monday) not bad but nothing to write home about. Very rough the remainder of the week.
Resort:
Oyster Bay Resort is a very nice, well kept resort. Pool is outstanding, restaurant not so. We appreciated the locale because we are passed the nightclub scene and don't gamble. (we're not old timers - 40ish). Entertainment at the resort was actually very good. The units are large, well appointed and spotless.

Shopping:
Did the Phillipsburg thing, hit every jewlery store on Front Street. Wife went home happy. Something D'ORO can't remember the full name had the best deals for her, a new start-up down by Antoines had the best deals on Movado.
Went to Marigot on Friday, wasn't as much fun as Philipsburg but the marina was beautiful. Only bought a few trinkets.

Overall, after her initial shock, my wife fell in love with St Maarten. We'll be back and will look to return to the Oyster Bay.
