My 24 yr old daughter and female friend will be traveling to Cancun for a week at the beginning of May. Although I vacationed there, it was back in 1994.

Any do/don'ts; recommendations for moderatly priced restaurants, clubs or tour trips/guides?

Thank you.

Use the buses, eschew taxis.
Most tours/trips out of the hotel zone can be done much cheaper on your own. (see above)
Get pesos from a bank ATM.

Thank you. Any suggestions on clubs for the twenty-something crowd?

Also, Dady'O (daddy O), The City, and the chain Senor Frog's. Her ears will be ringing for a week.

Thanks so they are the same clubs that were hot when I was there in 1994. Was that photo taken during spring break??

Since 1994 Cancun is MUCH different. Most hotels and clubs have been expanded and extensively remodeled and relit. Hotel Zone is beginning to look like Vegas.
Playboy Casino exists now.
Bulldog Cafe is kind of new also.

The City opened after Hurricane Wilma.
La Boom is gone.
Pat O'Brien's is abandoned.
Planet Hollywood is gone too.
Don't know the date of the photo.

Thank you for the update. Is Carlos and Charlie's still there? Any places you could recommend for them to eat that won't break the bank?

Yeah, Carlos and Charlies, Margaritaville, Hard Rock and a bunch of the other imitation places are still there.

Everything is WAY overpriced in Cancun Hotel Zone.

Not A/I?

No to AI. I work for Starwood Hotels & Resorts so got them a great deal at Westin Laguanmar Beach resort.

They are there now. El Fish Fritanga and La Destileria are restaurants they are considering.

La Destileria best margaritas in Mexico, used to be a fun restaurant! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/drinking.gif" alt="" />
