Any news as to when ports might reopen to private vessels wanting to visit the BVI?

Private vessels have been able to enter for quite a while. Many boats from PR were in the BVI for xmas in July.

We are chartering out of St Thomas in December. (bareboat) I was told today by a representative of the charter company that the new changes for entry do NOT apply to private charter boats and that we are still prohibited from entering the BVI. Can anyone else confirm? Thanks

I think the confusion here is between privately owned vessels that are not charter boats and charter boats. If it is your boat that you are bringing in I believe you can do that now. They just aren't letting bareboat charters go back and forth.

I suspect the BVI government does not like the fact that several BVI charter companies opened USVI bases and moved boats. Allowing USVI boats back into the BVI might end up being far more political based verses need or fact based. Having watched how the BVI has worked against USVI private water Taxi’s it would not surprise me if it’s a very long time before they change the current policy.

Can you take a BVI bareboat charter boat into USVI waters for couple of nights and then back into BVI?
