Anyone on island, be prepared for possible trouble on Monday on the French side.

It appears to be just around the Hospital but who knows. Disruptions, demonstrations and strikes seems to becoming the new normal on the French side.

There was a strike/protest a few days ago that closed a road, but the Daily Herald didn't report it. The mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers and the health pass are federal requirements, not local. They can strike/protest all that they want, and shut down all of the roads that they want, but Paris isn't listening. I'm listening though. I just rented a house on Marathon Key for three weeks.

i usually agree with people's rights to strike or protest, but in this case I agree with the government's mandate to have hospital personnel vaccinated. The virus is till running rampant, It has been proven now, that vaxes work. ANYONE dealing with the public should be foreced to protect the people that they are serving, may it be in a hospital, or even a restaurant, or someone working within a food market or retail establishment. It is EVERYBODYS duty to protect life. If these hospital workers refuse to comply, then they should be FIRED. I love the island, and have for well over thirty years, but if the people can't make it a safe place to travel to, maybe we tourists should think twice about going and risking our lives to do it. Without the toursits dollars coming in... This is NOT intended to be a political post, just a human post.

Fact of the matter is, you can't force them, or anyone. I have two friends here in NY...both RN's, one pregnant, one not, who refused the vaccine ...And both lost their jobs. So whose loss is it? The workers? The patients? The TRAVELERS? Think the travelers loss is the least concern right now, make your own decision. Me thinks you will go anyway. And I feel a shut down of this thread coming on. Peace out all.

I posted this note to inform those on island about a possible disruption to travel/services on the French side. Due to political comments posted, will close this one now.
