Pardon me if this has been gone over before.
We are heading to SXM next week Friday (finally...) and we have questions concerning filling in the paperwork as well as the SXM required insurance.
Can you fill out the forms prior to receiving your (negative) test results?
What is the cost of the insurance and what does it cover?
Thanks for your help!

You will have to have your antigen test before you fill in the forms. The insurance costs $15 USD. As far as what it covers, I didn't really pay much attention as the feeling here is it isn't much good. Put it this way, if you normally get travel medical insurance, then get it again.

You can go ahead and try to do a 'trial run', just to figure out what info you need to fill out the forms, but you can't actually apply until you get your results. Just figure that the $15 is a contribution to the economy of SXM, and don't depend on that insurance to cover ANYTHING. Go ahead and buy your own insurance.

To bad you're not traveling till after Nov 1st. You won't need that test as long as you're fully Vaccinated.

I can't remember if I read it here or one of the Facebook groups. But . . . there was a fellow who tested positive for COVID for his return to the US. His wife was negative so he sent her home. He had to quarantine at Divi for two weeks. The mandatory insurance covered his lodging at Divi for that two weeks.

Linda--My understanding is that the insurance is only limited to paying for lodging for $125 a day, which generally would not cover lodging at most places, but Divi may have discounted their rates. I don't remember reading that story but have read other stories of people that the insurance didn't cover ANY lodging. And the medical evac insurance is definitely absolutely worthless, due to the limit on it, which is $20,000, which there is no way that would cover a medical evac from SXM. Regardless, as I said, I would just consider it a throwaway $15 per person and not depend on it for anything.

Since all arrivals need to pay for the insurance they should have just added it to the airport fees and it would have been forgotten....but that cash probably goes into a different pocket
