We are heading into La Belle Creole tomorrow morning-ish! Halloween is the perfect day for it! wink

Any other takers?

((my girlfriend who lives here has found a person hanging in there, seen a drowning happening, etc)) It's cursed.

Yes ma’am. At the entrance (where I’ve always wanted the tiles, but they’re probably cursed like when the Brady Bunch went to Hawaii! Lol). Unless we pick you up?

Wow, adventurous hike! I wish I was on the Island and could go with you! Can't wait to hear all about it!

It was a beautiful morning. A friend suggested that we go at night, but there was no way in H.E.Doubletoothpicks I was going to do that! lol The mosquito situation alone, never mind the fright factor! wink

What a grand place this must have been. We found tiles, the reception and check-in area, the ballroom. A beautiful staircase where the room had sadly been burned. The office behind the reception area had training manuals, facsimile cover sheets, and completed faxes, as well as staff meeting notes from 1994. All earily readable 27 years and several hurricanes later.

Kim has some great pictures as well!

Thanks for the report and the pictures. I was never there, but it surely looks like it was a beautiful place at one time.

Thanks for the report and the photos! We were there once when my brother who has worked for various hotels had stayed there with his family-- it was a lovely place! We may have to take a hike there ourselves next year. It's incredible that so much of it still remains untouched.

He isn’t listed on the staff meeting notes.

Irina--I thought that Neil was the food and beverage manager at one point there, but he wasn't listed on that staff listing, as Leona said.

reminds me of the ruins of Autour Du Rocher, the old hotel/bar/club overlooking Lorient and St. Jean in St. Barth, originally owned by Jimmy Buffett (he has a song about it)…supposedly David Letterman eventually bought the land after the place burned down in ‘91

Owned by Jimmy and Larry "Groovey" Grey. Letterman bought it in 96/97

I lived at La Belle Creole from 1988 to 1992, A Conrad Hotel.
