Normal domestic check-in. After checkin at a Delta counter, you will pass through security. Once through security, you can take the train to E. It doesn't matter which Domestic Terminal you are checking in. Look for flight departures and loads and pick the one that is expected to be the least busy.

if you are wanting to check bags but still show up initially at the International terminal, because it's close to parking, than you can take the ground shuttle between the International terminal and and another terminal pre-security. Explanation is below...
ATL Ground Transportation Pre-Security (Landside) You can travel between the Domestic and International Terminals (without passing through security) by taking the airport shuttle service.
If arriving from the MARTA station or from other entry points on the western side of the Domestic Terminal, you need to enter through the W2 door into the South Terminal baggage claim area. From here, you can follow signs to Ground Transportation where you can pick up the shuttle bus to go to the International Terminal.
From the International Terminal, you can pick up the shuttle bus from the northern area of the terminal through doors A1, A2, or A3. The shuttle journey between terminals takes around 12 minutes.

Most any departing flight can change gates or terminals, even just prior to departure. I have departed from both domestic and international when using Delta /ATL. It is best to check the day of departure and even then it can change last minute so check the monitors once at the airport.

Another consideration is your return to ATL from SXM. If you exit the airport in ATL your luggage, if you're traveling with any, will come up in Terminal F, even if you land back in Terminal E. So the pickup to get back to your car needs to be from F. And we've done both domestic and international check in on our way to SXM.
