Lots of mixed reviews. We only ate there once in the old location and it was good, both food and service, Try the Spaghetti House at Jordan Village if you haven’t already. Very good and reasonable. 🙂🙂

As pat stated, very mixed reviews. Personally, I would do Isola or Izi as both are much more consistent.

I like Izi, almost as much as Sale and Pepe, but I am not an Isola fan although it is easy to walk to from La Vista but I would rather drive to one of the others. If you want Lasagna, The Palms is top shelf. As stated Spaghetti House is good as well and reasonable, La Rosa in Maho is pretty good for upper level Italian. Lots of options with out having to travel. Have not tried BounaNotte yet but might on this next trip.
As far as Sale and Pepe, I have been there at least five times in the last two years and can not complain about anything. Is it my favorite, no, but very surprised by the bad reviews as that is not my experience. If you want to go big make the drive to Spiga, it all depends upon what you specifically want and as I stated already, the Lasagna at The Palms is pretty tough to beat and if you add the staff and other options and cocktails it makes it my favorite place to spend an evening.
Will be back on island soon, looking forward to my evenings at The Palms, Lal's, Astra, and when asked MJ states Sale and Pepe's. Will also have evenings at Fat Tony's, possibly Emilio's, Roxxy, and a few places on the French side. Tough only having three weeks on island this time of year, but we will survive. Damn I am looking forward to all of these!
Cheers, Todd

A post started by somebody that had that as their second post, that doesn't help, that just fits your narrative.

A post started by somebody that had that as their second post, that doesn't help, that just fits your narrative. Exactly. And they never posted prior or since. I will be visiting Sale y Pepe this weekend. Love their risotto. Hubby is craving the calamari. He’s had it at 3 other places this visit and been sorely disappointed. It’s not the “heavy” Italian associated with its the cream sauces or pastas, though they have that available. It’s like my Sicilian grandmother made. Fresh, lighter.

We've never had a bad meal at Sale and Pepe, and have always had good service as well. I actually prefer it to Izi, mostly because of the location. Izi's food is good, but the location and atmosphere are just like a great restaurant here in the states, and when I go out to eat on the island, I want to know I'm not at home. Spiga is excellent, but is a bit of a drive from Simpson Bay. Isola is fine for pizza on a night when we don't feel like driving, as we can walk there from La Vista Beach. If I had to choose one Italian restaurant near Simpson Bay, it would be Sale and Pepe.
And as Todd stated, the lasagna at The Palms is excellent.

The interesting thing to note...and perhaps Carol can check the IP address of that poster. But the restaurant terminated the employment recently of someone with the name of Susie. Coincidence? Doubtful.

I will say that post may well have been suspect, but it certainly is not nearly the first complaint regarding the service there.. Many people love it there. Many people have had issues..

Not to bore you, but our waiter got into one of our guests face! One more word out this POS and it would have been lights out!! I need rude and nasty on vacation??? Want good reasonable Italian food, best lil find in Jordan village. "The Spaghetti house"!!

Happy Birthday, and enjoy your meal at Isola! We've dined there once in the past and really enjoyed the food. The view from the outdoor patio, however, isn't the greatest.
Everyone has their own opinions, and I'm not a huge fan of pasta, especially while on vacation, but here are my comments:
We had dinner at Sale & Pepe in May 2021, and it was a wonderful last dinner on the island. Water views, food and service were all excellent. The chef visited every table and Marc was able to customize his meal.
La Rosa has excellent Italian food. The service is fantastic, I don't believe they offer outdoor dining, but I could be wrong on that.
Spaghetti House's prices, while still somewhat reasonable, have gone up quite a bit (like doubled) since we started dining there. My $25 plate of penne & shrimp was good, but overpriced in my opinion. The location does not offer a decent view at all.
Spiga is probably my favorite Italian restaurant on the island.

I think that you should just try it for yourself and decide. I had a nice experience there.

It is impossible to compare S&P with Spaghetti House. SH is not a full scale restaurant in the sense that there is a very limited menu and a few appetizers, and very seldom one or two main courses that are not pastas. It is an easy place with good value. S&P is altogether a different story. I personally like S&P and L' Isola. I am the Enzo who started SH therefore for the readers of this thread you should be aware that I might have a skewed interest in affirming that SH is a good value for money

La Rosa has excellent Italian food. The service is fantastic, I don't believe they offer outdoor dining, but I could be wrong on that. I ate outdoors there in November but wasn't impressed with the food.

We didn’t make it to La Rosa Too during our April or November past trips but the last time we were there we ate outside and the food and company were the best. 👏👏
