I spoke to Cedrick at the beach today, asking about the progress for a building permit to rebuild Club Orient. He said, "Well, the PPRN is finalized and has been passed. We'll see. Maybe rebuilding can start next year."
I assume the holdup is the building permit.

Hi AUC spouse, my wife and I are bringing our best friend couple, who have never been to a nude beach, to Orient in 10 days. We have been 8 times. How is the nude beach? How busy is it? How many people are there? We really want our friends to have a good experience. Any seaweed? Appreciate the intel.
Thanks

MF, If you've been there 8 times, you know what it's like. The new Perch is a fully functioning restaurant / bar, but the Club Orient buildings are in ruins. The beach is busy. Cedric and his crew rent chairs and umbrellas -- that hasn't changed. The sargassum situation changes from day to day, but lately it hasn't been too bad.

Hi AUC,
You're right, we know how the setup is and that Club O is in ruins. We have never been in Dec, so I was just looking more for what the vibe is like and how busy it is (busier the better). Thanks for taking the time to respond. Have a good day.

M>F,
It is busier. We love to go for Christmas and New Year. The only drawback might be the Christmas Winds. Our last trip there was a day of 25mph+ winds--way to strong to enjoy the beach.

The PPRN passed November 3, 2021 very quietly without publicity. The maps can be found here... http://www.saint-barth-saint-martin.../20211103_Map_Cyclonic-hazard_PPRN21.pdfhttp://www.saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr/content/download/8263/46427/file/20211103_Map_PZR_PPRN21_approuvé.pdf Also links to the 91 page pdf of all restrictions. http://www.saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr/content/download/8260/46415/file/20211103_Reglement_PPRN21_approuvé.pdf Club Orient is in the highest risk zone!
