First day back at work after my JVD trip...figured some people might want a recent report of things in the BVI. I'll just rattle some things off as they come to me...

I stayed in the Evening Star Villas. They are very nice villas, the people are great as they are everywhere on the island. Everything is clean and the view is beautiful. I stayed in White Bay Villas last year, and I prefer that view plus the location, but Evening Star is a wonderful place to stay and it's a much cheaper option.

We ordered some groceries from Riteway to come over on the 6pm ferry on Saturday. They never showed. They're closed on Sundays, so the first chance we had to call was Monday. They were very apologetic, but couldn't explain what happened to the original order. They sent things over on the 10am ferry on Monday and everything was there...just kind of annoying that we didn't have our food and, more importantly rum, until Monday.

We rented a car from Paradise just like last year. They're great to work with. I've never done Abe's, so I can't speak for them, but Paradise does an awesome job.

I was bummed out that Coco Loco didn't have the SuperBowl on a big screen on the beach like last year. Foxy's had it playing on a few screens, but it wasn't the same. Actually the reason we picked last week to go was because I wanted to watch the SuperBowl on the beach again. It was such an awesome experience last year.

White Bay is my favorite place to be in the whole world. On our last day we stayed in St Thomas so we wouldn't have to ferry hop to catch our plane. We ended up going to Magen's Bay for the day. I can see why it's world famous, but White Bay is just so much better, in my opinion. I wish I had more time on ST to check out the history and other beaches.

Kevin the taxi guy.....I guess he exists from what people say on here. I emailed him in mid January, then texted him a few days before I left. Never heard from him. We made out well enough taking the regular taxis they shuffle you into as you step out into the street at STT.

For anybody trying to figure out a ferry route from STT to JVD...our plane landed at 1:20pm. We took the taxi to the CA ferry and took the 2:30 over to West End. For some reason the ferry took us to Red Hook first before West End, so I had to scramble getting off at West End to get onto the one over to JVD, but we made the 4:00 ferry over just in time. I would say as long as they don't inexplicably stop in Red Hook that you should be good taking the same route and not have to wait for the 6:00 over to JVD from WE. Anything later and you're probably pushing it.

We stayed at the Mafolie for our last day in ST. The staff there is great. We got there way too early for check in, but they let us keep our bags in their office and let us take some towels to Magen's Bay. There must have been some kind of room mix up, but we got bumped up to a junior suite so I was ok with it . The hotel itself is very cool with the way things are laid out. I enjoyed it. What I would have saved in taxi costs to the airport if I had just done the one right there, I'm sure I would have spent taking taxis to Magens Bay and downtown. I think it was worth it.

Overall....I love Jost Van Dyke. Great trip, as expected.
