SXM National Recovery Program Bureau

With most of the works already completed, the shipwreck salvaging activity is wrapping up as a major success of the Sint Maarten Trust Fund’s Emergency Debris Management Project (EDMP).
By the end of the activity, exactly 139 damaged and/or submerged vessels were removed from Mullet Pond and the Simpson Bay Lagoon and safely decommissioned. This figure is 19 more vessels than the original target of 120.
The initiative also disposed of approximately 3,200 metric tons of ferrous (iron-based) scrap metal and roughly 400 metric tons of non-ferrous scrap metal – such as zinc, copper, and aluminum.

Glad to see that they finally have gotten rid of so many wrecks. Just wish that they could get rid of Da Boat in Beacon Hill.

Where was that photo taken, David? It almost looks like Grand Case??

Yes Carol it was in Grand Case. We saw the boat in November from our Rhino Ride excursion. David took the photo year prior but still there 11/2021.

The wrecks on the French side have yet to be removed.

From our ride on the Rhino's,(2021-11) the shore front looked really good. We cut through the bridge where the old Mario's was and make our way up the coast. The ship in the photo that I took in GC (2018-11) was still there only now it looks like something out of bad NYC graffiti movie!!! The Marigot marina only had a few wrecks, none on the middle, just washed up on the shore lines. @SXMScubaman, I was told, a company tried to pull it (DaBoat) off the rocks, but it would not budge! GONNA need a bigger boat! I like many Beachside other family "members" of BSV fear this big piece of "BLEEP" will end up on our porches or worse!!
