If you do not get an approval email, I would say you did mess up, unless you had previously bought the insurance for this same trip. I was delayed a day and had to reapply with EHAS and was not required to resubmit for the insurance but it was asked if I had the insurance.

I thought the insurance was only good for a single trip. I would email and get clarification.

Correct, the insurance is only good for so long as you never leave the island.
I assume you did not get your approval either?? If it's been more than about six hours since you applied, I would just go ahead and re-apply and double-check all your entries, to make sure you did it correctly.
