OK - So - was telling this story to some friends last night... A couple years ago @ Mustique anchorage I woke up and found dozens of bats in the saloon (47' Cat)- Bats everywhere - flying around, hangin' off the top side and absolutely devouring a bowl of fruit that I had in the galley. Had to be more than 70 of em' - at least... I had a group of guests on board, thankfully they had shut the doors to their berths and slept through the event... I turned on the lights grabbed a broom (after a silent moment or two of panic) and waved it around the cabin and (thankfully) all the bats left in a quick hurry... After crapping all over the place... Took me hours to clean it all up... Totally freaky- Guests wake up and asked where the bananas went! I said they had gone rotten and left to pick up a new batch...

Has anyone else experienced this -? Or am I the lucky one...?

I should mention - It was the bats that crapped all over... though - I may have had to switch board shorts...

I've moored there several times for the requisite 3 nights and not had any problem with bats. However, I think we were probably closed up for the nights with the generator running and a/c on as there never seems to be any breeze there so probably no way for them to get aboard.

Not an experience I'd like to have. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

Oh man - Traumatizing & funny/hilarious at the same time... I'll never forget it ... The bats were just little guys but geesh... Freaky. When I leave my cabin I crack the door and look up into the saloon to make sure I'm not being invaded - That's the kind of stuff that sticks w/you! It is funny though - And I love bats - cause' they're really cool creatures and they eat bugs (and fruit)... I just don't like em' hangin'/flyin' around in my boat!

Maybe the Mustique Company placed them there in order to discourage sailing riff-raff... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

I remember walking up a hill in Bequia at night and grabbing my husbands arm and going eyes closed. Bats all over the dang place. That echolalia kicks in late!
Cheers

Ha - Perhaps ... I think the prices keep most of the scoundrels off the island (myself notwithstanding) ... Not sure if Jagger and Richards were ever involved in a similar incident... Could make for a good song though...
