Hello

I'm looking at a February 2023 flotilla charter. The organizers are looking at 2 10 day legs: north from Grenada to St Vincent and then turning around with a new group heading south from St Vincent to Grenada.

Any experiences on which is the better sail? I've heard it can be quite the beat heading north.

Any other considerations (ease of clearing customs, where to top up provisions & water, etc)? I think the Grenada start and end point is not likely to change but St Vincent might be switched out though these are not my decisions.

Of course one option would be to do both legs....

Don

North to south is the better direction. You will be off the wind likely with following seas. If starting from Grenada, you will probably end up motoring all the way to Carriacou due to the wind direction and being shielded by the mountains of Grenada. From Carriacou to Union/PSV/Mayreau/Tobago Cays is short hops.

The brisk legs are the ones from the Cays to Bequia, and from Bequia to St. Vincent, especially in the winter months.
