I know that SXM has lifted it’s COVID test requirement for tourists and all four of us are fully vaxxed & boosted. However, I cannot seem to get a definitive answer on whether us 4 ( US citizens ) need to be tested upon re-entry to the US. I checked the State Dept.’s website….oh boy….needle in a haystack. BTW – my Sister in Law was there over the summer and she insists that we have to be tested on island just prior to leaving. Again, I cannot seem to find out for certain.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

No tests required on re-entry to the US, for vaccinated US citizens.

You're welcome. It was great news when they stopped requiring the test.

Good news indeed as it is one less thing to worry about since travel ( esp back home) can be stressful.

We just returned from SXM. You do have to sign something for the airline for contact tracing if you get sick.

Which is totally pointless, but whatever. You can do this attestation online so you don't have to stop at the counter when you leave. AA sent us an email a few days before our flight with the link to the form.

Sorry... quote function not working....

Carol said, "No tests required on re-entry to the US, for vaccinated US citizens."

Carol, can you please clarify? It sounds like you are stating that no test is required for vaxed citizens, implying that proof of vax status is required for US citizens to return to the US. Is this accurate? Is a test required for non-vaxed US citizens?

Of course... asking for a friend.

No testing and No proof of vaccination for US citizens.

** The CDC order from December 2, 2021, requiring persons aged two and above to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the United States, is rescinded, effective June 12, 2022, at 12:01AM ET. This means that starting at 12:01AM ET on June 12, 2022, air passengers will not need to get tested and show a negative COVID-19 test result or show documentation of recovery from COVID-19 prior to boarding a flight to the United States regardless of vaccination status or citizenship. Of note, CDC’s Order requiring proof of vaccination for non-citizen nonimmigrants to travel to the United States is still in effect. (Copied directly from the US State Department website)

When you check in for your flight home you will be required to attest that you are a US citizen and are there therefore exempt from any vax or testing requirements.
Just did this last week. Easy.

Bill--the original poster said they were vaccinated US citizens, so I responded in that fashion. Sorry if that was confusing.

10-4 Carol.

I'll be on the island in February, so this post got my attention. So no entry requirements (besides a valid US passport).

Good.

When we left for home in November, JB emailed a link for us for the attestation form, which is required to board the plane. I had a small problem with it going through, until I noticed it wanted my house number, and street address on 2 different lines. So, problem solved for us.
On the day of departure, it seems many folks did not get the email or hadn't seen it. They had 1 JB employee at the line for check in to make sure everyone had filled it out. Those that hadn't were having trouble connecting to the wifi to do so. Lots of unhappy people and lots of delays in the line moving forward.

What's wrong with using a paper copy like we did back in June.

Scuba--I think that's what AA does. Agreed, why force people to have to do it online? Just provide paper copies to sign.

I thought it was pretty easy to do the AA attestation on line and then just showed my phone at the beginning of the line. That said, I have local wifi added to my phone so don't have to deal with spotty airport wifi.

I honestly don't remember doing it at all in June 2022, but if we did it, we definitely would have done it on a paper copy.

I took copies of it with us to St Maarten so it wasn't a big deal. They were also handing them out at PJIA.

By doing it online the airlines have it coded on your tickets. Literally a link you click and you answer the questions and fill in your address. Super easy and no reason to print anything. Once done you can get your tickets to print or your electronic boarding pass. Which they are allowing now - it’s great especially if not checking bags.

We didn't have to show the attestation form at all. The email that AA sent us stated that if we hadn't filled it out, we would not be able to get our boarding passes. After we filled it out online, we were able to check in online, and get our boarding passes on our phones. The boarding passes were all that we needed to enter passport control and security. We don't check bags, so went directly to the check-in lines. It's completely pointless, but not difficult to manage.
