You're very late for a rental car. LocalSailor's list is good. There are some newer companies you can try also.

https://aquariusstjohn.com/st-john-car-rental/

Here is another list: https://newsofstjohn.com/car-rental-companies-on-st-john/

Fall back is to rent on St. Thomas and take the car ferry.

Agree with Rick. Demand is sky high and with such a limited supply many folks book a year in advance. You may be able to cobble days together.

Local Sailor saved the day, secured one this morning. A not so minor detail that slipped my mind through the holidays .........

Thanks to all who responded

Excellent!

There are fewer cars than demand on St. John. More licenses for rental car agencies have been issued. This has driven by the post-Irmaria construction boom and conversion of long-term housing rentals to short-term. The other impact of the conversion to short-term housing rentals is lack of housing for service industry workers.

If you plan on eating out you'd better start making dinner reservations now. We were there in June and my friend who lives there told me to make dinner reservations a month out. I didn't really believe her but did it anyway and was glad I did. We stayed a few extra nights at Gallows Point after we checked out of our villa. We ended up having to eat there as every other place we checked was full. Actually the food was great. But this was June! I've never seen so many people.

the lack of housing rentals extends well beyond service industry workers. All Non-owners residents are suffering price and availability problems. Across the board employers and employees.

I have been going to BVI and USVI for a long time now and St John especially since Irma is very much pricing out of range and availability for most folks...
