Long time charterer in the BVI (first trip 1980...I'm old), but I haven't been since early 2020. Heading back down in a couple weeks. What's the current mooring ball situation at CGB and Great Harbour? I prefer to anchor whenever possible, and I'm not a fan of Boaty Ball, but last time I was down there, seems like the FCFS balls have all but disappeared or are gone by noon. I really don't like anchoring in GH or CGB if I can avoid it because of crowding and poor holding, especially GH. Any recent intel on these two anchorages? Thanks.

Very few FCFS balls in GH. CGB still has plenty. Anchoring not recommended in GH - holding really isn’t good at all in most spots. We avoid it nowadays.

I have anchored with Tom Garvey on his cat right in front of Myett's in CGB with no problems a few times..
