Kind of sad to see, on many accounts.
The local airport (DAY) I fly out of is surrounded by farm fields with a river nearby (or it was before multiple warehouse developments were built around it) and sometimes has a coyote problem. They drive the perimeter and exterminate the coyotes when they see them.

We were flying back from Statia to SXM one time, in a small 10 seater. The pilot had just pulled out onto the runway to take off, when he stopped, turned around in his seat and announced to the passengers, in a a delightful French accent, "I cannot take off. Zere eez a dog on zee runway."
We then had to wait until the police came and shooed the critter away, in a scene from the Keystone Cops!
Delightful experience all around. (No animals were harmed in this incident.)
