Today we needed another beach break. My husband stays in the water at the beaches and he needed a break from the sun for sure. We decided to head back over to Rusty Rocket and see if they were open. Fortunately they were - and lunch was great. This place is located directly across from the Winair office by the airport. It’s my understanding that post Irma they’ve done some work to really make the space nice - and it is, considering where it’s situated right next to the airport. It’s rustic and open- air. The specialties are burgers and rum, but they have all the beers and cocktail drinks you’d want as well as some good sounding appetizers. We had a Godfather burger which had a bun spread with a little garlic butter, an excellent beef patty, and melty sharp cheddar. The burgers came with a basket of crispy curly fries. Everything was delicious - We loved the mix of a true charcoal bbq flavored burger with the elevated toppings. The buns were toasted but still soft. We enjoyed taking an after- lunch rum punch down to their “beach” on the lagoon to enjoy the views. I feel like this would be a great place to spend time if you were waiting to pick someone up from the airport.
Afterwards we decided to just drive parts of the island we hadn’t seen much of, again. We did the across- island route and then up Oyster Pond and to Orient for a beach drink at Aloha. We enjoyed the atmosphere at Aloha but I did observe their loungers weren’t cushioned, so another reason for us to keep returning to Orange Fever for a Beach day.
We concluded the afternoon with some nice pool time at Esplanade and now dinner awaits. Thanks everyone for following along.

That bun on that burger looks home made and I can see how it must of tasted great. Love it when they put real cheese on a burger and not that American processed slab thhey call cheese.

Scuba - absolutely ! It’s hard to complain about bread on the French side because they know leavin so well but a good juicy burger needs a soft bun even after it’s toasted. We found this to be the best “bun” we’ve seen.
ETA - they have a Belgian beer cheese sauce and a Gouda, too, along with homemade condiments.

You mentioned bread on the French side but isn't Rusty Rocket on the Dutch side? I heard and seen that the buns served at Krave next to Juggies in Philisberg are in that same caliber.

Rusty is on the Dutch side - I just meant that it was much better than the burger buns I’ve seen on the French side.
