Now THAT picture reminds me of a story...

Quite a few years ago I managed to get a staph infection in my leg and it got really bad just about the time we got to Anegada. We dingied to the ARH dock / bar and asked how we might contact a doctor, and told them why. Of course, everybody at the bar had to look at my leg and there was unanimous nodding of heads. So it turns out that the Doctor only visits Anegada once a week on Tuesdays and it was not that day. So they called the nurse and I met her at the clinic. She bandaged my leg and invited me to pick out an antibiotic that I liked (!), gave me an unmarked baggie full of them, charged me $15, and sent me on my way.

Funny, love those kind of stories! I have memories of being about 8 years old, sick as a dog with tonsillitis and we had just pulled into Kingston, St. Vincent from Grenada. My mom and I found a tiny little "pharmacy" who sold us penicillin in a baggie. Every time I took one I worried that something bad was going to happen.

I also remember being a young 20 something year old, in a Jamaican hospital after a motorcycle accident watching a cockroach crawl up the wall.
