I have a friend down at Bitter End who just called me and is thinking of going to Anegada tomorrow AM. He spoke to a Captain of another boat who indicated they expect rough conditions at Setting Point.

Can anyone help me help my friend either way?

Anyone there now

As always thanks in advance

I live on Anegada. No clue about what the "rough conditions" mean. We are expecting wind NE 15-20, seas 4ft from WNW. Setting Point should be fine.

I agree with duckfat. Weather should be fine. I prefer 12 to 15 knots as perfect for that sail and they will have 15 to 17 with a gust to 20. Not quite perfect but no need to even reef on a beam reach. The anchorage will be just fine. 2 hour sail with that wind.

Hopefully "that Captain" was a Credit Card Captain and not very experienced. Boating, medicine, or anything else, must "consider the source".

That is totally normal and almost perfect conditions. we had 6-11kts last week and it was a SLOW sail. We had 27kts, 8 foot seas, 27 foot swells and setting point was still fine.

You could anchor in the salt ponds with a 27 foot swell!

The mark of a competent Captain be it a boat or airplane is the guy who puts the brakes on and comes up with a new plan when he is not comfortable.

What are the most and least busy night at Anegada? Mooring availability concern.

Tues to Thursday are the busy days. Wednesday is the peak. The holding is fantastic at Anegada so anchoring is a non issue.

On June 9 from Virgin Gorda, we had 17-19, gusting to 22 knots on a broad reach. Same winds on June 11, Anegada to Guana Island, beam reach. Both delightful, fast passages. No need to reef.
