Watching a 50 Saba called Vuya anchored in Deadman’s bay without using a bridal. The bridal is not actually optional when anchoring a cat especially when the windless and chain exit point are behind the tramps. The windless supports are not sized to hold the boat and the boat will pivot back and forth dragging the chain up under the hulls and damaging the fiberglass. In addition the bridal cushions the anchor loads and helps keep the anchor set!

Damned credit card captains...! I wonder if they stayed or were anchoring for lunch or something. Not that it matters, I know, just wondering!

Just realized I used the word Bearboat vs Bareboat. It was before my coffee. LOL

@Mark - don't worry, the correct term is "Bridle", not "Bridal"; so you are in good company.

Addendum - I just saw that @MrEZgoin already mentioned that before me - sorry for repeating.

And if you want to see wildlife, you charter a "Bearboat".
