What time does your plane need to arrive in St. Thomas by, to catch the last ferry to Tortola? Will an arrival time of 3:40pm work or should we spend the extra $200 to get in on the 2:25pm flight?
Thanks!

It’s a long way off and the schedules are always changing. Currently there is a 5:30 which would work fine. Last winter however I think the last ferry was 4:30 which would be tight. There is a good chance your airline flight might also change

Christmas week is the busiest week of the year in the BVI. They are also expecting close to 10,000 cruise shippers on Dec. 27, about 6,000 of which leave between 6 and 7 pm. Hopefully most of them will be back on their ships before the ferry passengers get through Customs and need taxis.
One concern would be finding last minute hotel rooms in St. Thomas if your flight is delayed and you miss the last ferry.
You don't say where your final destination is. You may want to look into a water taxi, private or shared, which would clear you in West End and drop you at your marina or out island.

If the flight arrives by 3pm you will make a 4pm ferry. There is however currently a 5:30 ferry scheduled for 27 Dec. You are however going on one of the busiest travel days of the year to the BVI. I would consider a water taxi just for the ease in clearing customs.

We have been traveling around this time the past few years. Have a back up plan on top of a back up plan! Last year we were scheduled the day after Christmas and despite not being ON a Southwest flight that was the cause of the nightmare, we awoke at 3AM to go to the airport to find our Delta flight was cancelled-not delayed, cancelled with no outgoing options for 3 days. We lost our water taxi reservation (which note, you will not be refunded if you don't show that day) and had to drive to a different city just to fly out and get there two days late as opposed to three. Carry lots of trip insurance and try to have multiple plans. This year I pushed us to the 28th but I am still planning on having multiple plans of attack. I hear you Skip - we are looking at multiple options too. You just never know.......
